We are Experienced in the processes. Heard all the myths that get circulated. establishing what types of supports are available is a smooth journey if you have a little help. We're here to help reduce that and make your journey into the Support at Home program a smooth transition.

The steps to support at home

The steps below provide an over view of how to receive government support.
Register with My Aged Care
Think of My Aged Care as the front door to Australia’s aged care system.
Have an Assessment
Once registered, an assessor will arrange a visit or appointment.
The purpose isn’t to test anyone—it’s simply to understand:
* How safely they’re living at home* What they can still do independently* Where they need a little extra help* What support would help them remain at home longer
Receive Funding Approval
  • Under the new Support at Home program, funding is based on assessed needs rather than the old Home Care Package levels.

  • The more support you need, the larger the annual budget available to help you stay independent at home.

Classifications

Support at Home is Australia's in-home aged care program, which replaced the old Home Care Packages system in November 2025. Instead of the previous four package levels, it now uses eight classifications, each matched to how much day-to-day help a person needs to stay safe and independent at home. Classification 1 suits older Australians who are mostly independent and need only occasional help — a bit of cleaning or transport to appointments — while Classification 8 is for people with complex, high-level needs, including end-of-life care.
